ENTRi is launching the 3rd edition of the In Control handbook

You have every reason to be excited. The new version of the In Control handbook includes a foreword by Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission and features updates from over 30 subject matter experts. You will find updated advice on health, safety and security, such as the Zika virus, Viral haemorrhagic fevers, cybercrime, UAVs, mine hazards and newly created symbols ‘Icoons’ are available in the annex, to assist you in expressing yourself in foreign-speaking environments. There is also new content on refugees, IDPs and stateless persons, spatial information sharing and communications, gender, mediation, diplomacy and more.

The first version in French of the Handbook (Garder le controle) is now also available and the mobile In Control app will be updated in due course. Once hard copies are available, this will be announced on the homepage. As in the past, copies can be ordered, we only require reimbursement for shipping and printing.

The handbook has been designed to accompany civilian experts on their way through crisis management missions and provides a general overview of the institutional landscape of crisis management as well as relevant concepts. The handbook also contains practical information on a variety of issues that are common to working in a mission. From dealing with health and security challenges to technical information on radio operation, map reading, and four-wheel driving – the ENTRi handbook is a valuable companion.

ENTRi In Control app

Our In Control app is now available! Based on the 2nd edition ENTRi handbook, the In Control app is your ideal mission companion on the go. To access the In Control app now, click here or on the parachutist on the left!

Instead of carrying the handbook, you can now simply use the web-based app on your mobile device! Working in the field without internet access? No problem! After your first visit, you can access the app offline. Add it to the home screen of your mobile device by using the bookmark or “add to home screen” function of your web browser.

Stay in control using interactive checklists before, during, and after your deployment. Check off items you have already taken care of and come back later. The app will save your checklists and you will always have an overview of what still needs to be done.

Not sure if you are ready to embark on your mission? Test your knowledge after each chapter with the quiz feature of our app and find out how much you really know about crisis management.

Want to know more? Check out the interactive mission map to learn more about peace operations currently being conducted worldwide. The map not only provides you with information on different types of missions, but also includes an overview of their mandates and guides you to their respective websites.

Please note that the app is based on the 2nd edition of the handbook and not the newest 3rd edition!

This app was developed in cooperation with NOUS Wissensmanagement GmbH.
